Michele Okimura is the founder and Executive Director of Releasing Generations, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering youth, families, and communities across Hawaii and beyond. Her leadership spans three dynamic initiatives: Explicit MovementKingdom Families, and ReThink Creativity—each designed to equip people of all generations with purpose, resilience, and spiritual wholeness.

In 2023, Michele and her Explicit Movement Team were honored with the “Outstanding Advocate of the Children and Youth of Hawaii” award, presented by Governor Josh Green and Mayor Rick Blangiardi. Their global-impact curriculum, The Brave Series, builds confidence, emotional health, leadership, and protection against exploitation among youth.

Through Michele Okimura Consulting LLC, Michele creates safe, transformative spaces—through workshops and retreats—where hearts are healed, hope is restored, relationships are strengthened, and personal growth is ignited. Her Dream Big Journal curriculum, used in schools, churches, families, and organizations, awakens people of all ages to dream with God and step boldly into their purpose.

Michele previously served as Associate Pastor at LifeSpring Church in Honolulu for over 20 years, and before ministry, dedicated 14 years to teaching as an elementary public school teacher. She and her husband Rob, married since 1984, are proud parents to two adult children, Aaron and Jessica.

Kingdom Ed. Community Circle with Kevin Reagey

Using Story to Disciple

The founder of Epic Christian Academy, Kevin Reagey, shares how his school brings Kingdom education to life, using story to disciple. As Kingdom educators, our goal is the same for ourselves and our students. We want to help them grow in their knowledge and awareness of God, and to understand who they are created to be and what they are created to do. At Epic Christian Academy, we use the concept of ‘story’ as a framework for discipleship. ‘Story’ is how we teach them about who they are, about who God is, about what is possible. In ‘Using Story to Disciple’, we’ll talk about: the four main characters in every story, the four main parts of every story, and the four core beliefs that affect it all. We’ll also talk about some of Epic’s rhythms and traditions that sponsor our culture of H.E.R.O.E.S. as examples of using ‘story’ in practice.
